Madisonville City Council adopted a $9.87 million budget Sept. 21, keeping the tax rate at $0.6939 per $100 valuation while raising the median homestead bill by $108 to about $1,137. The plan includes a 7% raise and $5,000 for community projects.

Two drivers were killed and four others, including three children, were injured in a head-on crash Monday morning on FM 2620 near Texas 30, according to Texas DPS. One vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, triggering the collision that sent victims to Houston hospitals.
