Midland Fire Department Celebrates Fire Prevention Week with Open House October 10
The Midland Fire Department (MFD) is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to promote Fire Prevention Week October 4 – 10 with the annual Fire Prevention Open House.

Absentee Ballots Mailing Now for November State General Election
The Midland City Clerk’s Office began mailing absentee ballots on September 24 to registered voters on the Permanent Absent Ballot Mailing list and to voters who had returned an absentee ballot application for the November 3, 2026 State General Election.
City Hall Ellsworth St. Entrance Closed for Sidewalk Replacement Project Sept. 21 – Oct. 9
Midland City Hall will close its Ellsworth St. entrance from September 21 to October 9 for a scheduled sidewalk replacement project. During this time, residents should enter City Hall through the Larkin St. parking lot entrance.
Main Street Pedestrian Plaza Ends 2026 Season on September 28
On September 28, the DDA will begin removing outdoor dining, seating, and recreational amenities from The Commons Pedestrian Plaza. Main St., between Ashman St. and Rodd St., is expected to fully reopen to vehicle traffic and parking by October 1.

Waldo Ave. between Mark Twain Dr. and Whitewood Dr. will remain closed through Friday, October 9 for work related to the Lawndale Dr., Sweetbrier Dr., and Waldo Ave. stormwater improvement project.
Fall Free Yard Waste Collection Begins October 5
The City of Midland will offer Fall Free yard waste collection beginning October 5 through the remainder of the 2026 yard waste collection season. During this free period, 60-cent per bag stickers and annual yard waste bin stickers are not required.
