Hampshire Campus Zoning Study Public Events
The Town invites the community to attend a series of two upcoming events about the Hampshire Campus Zoning Study on September 22 and September 24 to learn more and provide input on future zoning of the campus.
Update: Hampshire Campus Zoning Study
Following Hampshire College’s announcement that it will cease academic operations after December 2026, the Town of Amherst initiated this study to develop zoning options to prepare for future uses of the Hampshire campus property.
Household Hazardous Waste Day
This Household Hazardous Waste collection event will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Wildwood Elementary School. Registration is required by Monday, October 19.
Statement Regarding Hateful Graffiti
On August 25, a hateful symbol was found spray painted on two electrical boxes in Amherst. The Police Department is actively investigating these incidents. Hateful symbols such as this do not reflect the values of our Town.

Amherst Cultural Council Accepting Grant Proposals
The Amherst Cultural Council is seeking grant proposals to distribute up to $56,000 for community-based arts, humanities, and sciences events with broad public benefit and impact. Applications are being accepted through Thursday, October 15.
