Clermont, located about 22 miles west of Orlando, is residential in character and its economy is centered in retail trade, lodging, and tourism-oriented restaurants and bars. Clermont is home to the 1956 Florida Citrus Tower, one of Florida’s early landmarks. The city was founded in 1884 and named for the French birthplace of A.F. Wrotnowski, manager of the Clermont Improvement Company. Cyclists flock here, and President Dwight D. Eisenhower once trained in Clermont for the D-Day invasion during World War II. The city is often referred to as the “Gem of the Hills” due to its beautiful hilly landscape. 🌞🍊🏞️
