About Manhattan

Manhattan is the most densely populated of New York City's five boroughs and is coextensive with New York County. Set on Manhattan Island between the Hudson and East Rivers, with Roosevelt Island and a small mainland section at Marble Hill, it is the city's historic core and its center of finance, government and culture. Wall Street, City Hall, Central Park, Times Square, Broadway's theatres and the museums of Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile all sit here, alongside neighborhoods as distinct as Harlem, the Upper West Side, Greenwich Village, Chinatown and the Lower East Side. Manhattan is the seat of the city government and hosts the headquarters of the United Nations.
