Albany County

Albany County, located in eastern New York state, is steeped in history and serves as the political center of the state. The county seat, Albany, is also the capital of New York. Encompassing roughly 533 square miles, the county's landscape varies from the flatlands bordering the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers to the hilly terrain of the Helderberg Mountains. Established in 1683, Albany County played a significant role in the early development of the United States. Today, the county has a population of over 314,000 residents.
