The Acknowledgement Project

Register here. Gulfport Arts & Heritage invites you to join us for The Acknowledgement Project: Bearing Witness to Pinellas County History. This regional community listening and oral history event creates a structured, respectful, and trauma-informed space in which to share and preserve community members' experiences connected with racial exclusion, intimidation, displacement, and related historical experiences. The project comes in two parts. Through October 15 , we invite community members to share their experiences using the form below. If willing, they sign up to participate in an oral history interview. These interviews will become part of the community’s historical record through the Gulfport History Museum's archives. Share your story here. On November 6 , a community gathering will be held at Catherine A. Hickman Theater in Gulfport. The event will feature a healing conversation guided by RaceWithoutIsm and St. Petersburg Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center for all participants, followed by a chance to hear and bear witness to community members' stories.
