Where our place data comes from, and the terms it carries

Overture Maps

Place listings on thePulse are seeded from the Overture Maps Foundation places theme, then corrected and enriched by our community. Overture assigns every place a stable GERS identifier, which is what lets us re-sync against later releases without losing the corrections made here.

Boundaries and demographics

Municipal, county and state boundaries, and the demographic figures shown on geography pages, are derived from United States Census Bureau cartographic boundary files and the American Community Survey. Census Bureau works are in the public domain.

Corrections

Seed data is a starting point and it will be wrong in places. If a listing is inaccurate, use the “Suggest an edit” link on the place’s page, or claim the listing if it is your business.
